Quality of Experience Estimators in Networks (QuEEN)

The goal of the CELTIC-Plus project "Quality of Experience Estimators in Networks (QuEEN) is to develop QoE agents which allow monitoring QoE in future networks autonomously. These agents will be based upon models of human perception and trained from the best-fitting current profile for each service. The agents communicate with each other through the network on a peer-to-peer basis to exchange profile information so that services and applications can adapt to both-end preferences and expectations. Service providers can obtain QoE-relevant user information which is useful to adapt resource provisioning of the network and thus allows optimizing end-user experience and reducing costs. Mapping QoE measurements to Quality of Service (QoS), i.e. technical parameters, eventually allows enhancing Service Level Agreements (SLA) by incorporating the end-to-end experience rather than only technical, mostly non-intuitive, parameters.

The project objectives of QuEEN are:

  • Developing the individual QoE estimator agents, including the human perception models, the service models and the subjective test methodology,
  • Interconnecting QoE estimators,
  • Defining the new business models and enablers, including the service infrastructure, the use cases, SLA and service monitoring, and operating support systems,
  • Defining and building proof of concepts, from the individual QoE estimators to the QoE estimators agents communication, and validate them with user pilot programs in experimental as well as real operational situations.

Both AIPA and Quality and Usability Lab are contributing to work package 2: “QoE models” which is led by AIPA.
