Motivation & Project Description

  • In order to assure that new IP-based audiovisual services such as IPTV or mobile TV provide a high level of Quality of Experience (QoE), it is desirable to have instrumental assessment methods at hand that can be applied for service planning and monitoring.
  • TVM++ extends the parametric modeling approaches previously developed in the T-V-Model and T-V-Model+ projects
  • TVM+ predictions can be used for:

    • Planning networks and services
    • Monitoring service quality
    • Defining & verifying Quality of Service (QoS) classes and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Expected Outcome:

  • Packet-based audiovisual quality model for IPTV and VoD (Video on Demand), suitable for encrypted audiovisual streams, standardized under the ITU-T P.1201.2 Recommendation
  • Bitstream-based audiovisual quality model for IPTV and VoD (Video on Demand), standardized under the ITU-T P.1201.2 Recommendation
  • Hybrid video quality model (on-going VQEG Hybrid Perceptual/Bitstream competition)
  • Audiovisual test databases
  • Audio and video processing tools
